Abstract
Roughened tenter-process homopolymer biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films were prepared by forming j3-crystals in cast polypropylene sheet and subsequently melting the 13-crystals as the sheet was stretched in the machine direction. The roughened films, along with unroughened control films, were corona treated and vacuum metallized with aluminum to 2.1 optical density and then extrusion laminated to a commercially produced BOPP film.
Several different laminated metallized films were tested for aluminum adhesion. The roughened films exhibited poorer aluminum adhesion than the unroughened controls.
