Abstract
On-line film gauging, gravimetric feeding, innovations in blown film dies and wind-up equipment, and improved data handling have made pos sible the production of blown film to higher quality standards. However, ade quate cost control and effective material utilization will require even greater uniformity of the process and property performance of the film resins. Data was obtained to show that a modern extruder system with a microprocessor is an excellent processing rheometer. When properly calibrated and operated it can detect small changes in the resin and thus provide the means to continue economic production of higher quality film with greater assurance.
