Abstract
A new bubble cooling system has been developed which exploits the non-strain- hardening extensional flow behavior of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE). Although it employs a different concept than is used for low-density polyethylene (LDPE), commercially available equipment is still used. Throughput rates with LLDPE when using the new system are comparable to those obtained with LDPE when using conventional equipment; film of good clarity can now be fabricated from LLDPE on a commercial basis.
