Abstract
Ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers (EVAs) have historically been used to provide seal strength and good gloss in packaging for carrots, lettuce, and grapes. It is possible to obtain the same optical properties and increased sealing properties through the use of clarity and enhanced clarity linear low-density polyethylenes (LLDPEs). Several coextruded structures containing these two improved LLDPEs were selected to provide more economical options to the film converter. Data were obtained on these coextruded structures, comparing their properties to typical EVA coextrusions.
