Abstract
Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) has been used in research and quality control laboratories to determine the amount of various polymers in particular specimens. This paper demonstrates that fixed filter infrared analyzers can be useful in a manufacturing process for measuring the thickness of individual plastic layers in the production of multilayer films. These fixed filter analyzers also make it possible to be sure that the proper surface of a multilayer film is being treated or laminated.
