Abstract
This content analysis explores immigration news agenda-building in regional newspapers across five Mexican border states and three U.S. states. Analyzing 595 stories with 877 sources, the study finds that nonprofits are the second most frequently used information subsidy for immigration news, after government sources. U.S. outlets relied more on nonprofit and government sources, while Mexican newspapers cited more migrants. The study uniquely identifies different NGO/NPO types as prominent shapers of immigration news.
