Abstract

Hi, I am Dr David Diduch from the University of Virginia. On behalf of my coeditors, Dr Seth Sherman (Stanford University) and Dr Adam Yanke (Rush University), I am pleased to welcome you to this special patellofemoral issue of the Video Journal of Sports Medicine.
I would like to introduce you to the International Patellofemoral Study Group. It is a peer‐selected group of world experts. We meet biannually to discuss all aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of patellofemoral conditions with the mission of advancing the science and moving us forward.
This edition is very special because, like Seth said, we have been able to bring many experts together to teach all of their expertise on different topics related to the patellofemoral joint. You have the opportunity to learn everything from the people who have developed these techniques, often from the beginning, and Dr Diduch will share some specifics of the breadth of that work.
I think you are going to really enjoy this and find it highly educational. You have 5 different ways to do a tubercle osteotomy, 3 different ways to do a deepening trochleoplasty, and even different techniques for patellar tendon shortening with growth plates open. You will hear from the developer of McConnell Taping on how to do McConnell taping, rotational osteotomies, and, of course, medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction. It is all there.
We hope you enjoy it.
