Abstract
Erythema nodosum (EN), a form of septal panniculitis, is rare in pediatric age group. It can be primary/idiopathic as well as secondary due to various conditions such as tuberculosis, streptococcal infections, autoimmune disorders, drugs, and inflammatory bowel diseases. The association of EN with latent tuberculosis has been widely reported in the adult population but literature is scarce on the association of EN with tuberculosis in the pediatric age group.
Here we present a case of a child who presented with pleural effusion of tubercular origin with a recent history of EN. The patient was also evaluated for the other causes of EN and responded well to the antitubercular treatment.
