Abstract

It is a great privilege and honor to be offered the Editorship of the official journal of a vibrant scientific body like Telangana Cardiological Society of India. Indian Journal of Clinical Cardiology has grown to a respectable position over these 3 years with H-factor of 2 and impact factor of 0.3. It is heartening to know that the global readership and number of articles downloaded are increasing steadily. Hats off to Dr Hygriv Rao for his foresight and the outstanding foundational work he has done with the active support of the associate editors. On 26th April, another feather has been added to the outgoing Editor-in-Chief and his wonderful editorial team. IJCC got DOAJ indexing which is a step forward from prior indexing with EBSCO, j-gate and Indian Citation Index.
At the time of my taking over, my friend Dr Hygriv Rao rightly said that I am given a running train in its top gear and my job is to keep it running. In the last few weeks I was well tutored by the Sage Publications team for the job. Dr Hygriv Rao will continue to guide us as Founding Editor. I thank the executive bodies of 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 for placing their confidence in me and giving valuable inputs and suggestions. Most important of them are making the journal more relevant to the DM/DNB students and young cardiologists practicing in peripheral centers.
Dr Kartikeya Bhargava opted out as Associate Editor due to some new assignments on his shoulders. Our editorial board thanks him for his valuable inputs in the past. We are glad to welcome ever-energetic Dr Deepak Saha, the immediate past general secretary of our society to our team as Associate Editor. I also thank Mrs Padmaja Mani who opted out from the post of editorial coordinator on personal grounds. The editorial board appreciates her services in running the journal successfully all these years. I hope to stand up to everyone’s expectations with the active support of talented team of associate editors and members of the Editorial board. There had been a few instances of physical copy of journal not reaching some members. This issue will be looked into in future. I also request you to update any change in your postal address at
The content of this journal appears to be well-balanced and catering to varied interests. We are happy that authors from many places across the country and a few from other countries are contributing articles on regular basis. I feel our own TCSI colleagues who are doing excellent interventional procedures and have many unique experiences (sometimes shared on our WhatsApp channel) are not forthcoming with structured write-up for the journal as much as desirable. My humble appeal to all of you is to spare a few minutes of your time to make academic contribution to our own journal in a bigger way. There is headroom for more original research articles, which will help us in moving forward for better indexing. The faculty who are guiding the DM and DNB students can be proactive and motivate their students to generate 1 or 2 papers from each thesis project and contribute to this journal.
In this issue, original research article on Anxiety and depression in spouses of cardiac patients makes an interesting reading. We all meet such spouses and other relatives in our daily practice but do not know how to deal with the problem appropriately. The two review articles (Ortner syndrome and Exercise training in CAD) are worth a close look. There is a growing need to emphasize the management issues of heart failure. A new focused corner—Heart Failure Corner—is being introduced from this issue. Dr Soumya Patnaik, working at University of Texas, has given an overview of the recent trials in the medical management of heart failure that were published beyond the 2022 AHA guidelines. There is an educative letter to editor on multisystemic inflammatory disease in children – an interesting upcoming issue. Wish you all a happy reading!
My vision for the coming 3 years includes but is not limited to
Keep the running train, run smoothly at the level set by my predecessor Increase the number and quality of original research papers and interesting case-reports, particularly from members of TCSI Make it more sought out journal for the DNB/DM students for their thesis publication after its approval as well as medical teachers looking for a journal that meets the NMC/UGC requirements for their next promotion Make it a better forum to reflect the TCSI activities and worthy professional achievements of our members After reaching DOAJ indexing, our next goal is to move closer to Scopus and PubMed indexing over next 3 years.
I welcome all fellow cardiologists to suggest me ways and means to make our journal more relevant and impactful.
