Abstract

Dr M. Hyder Khan, the first Cardiologist of combined states of AP Telangana passed away on 10th January 2022 at the age of 100. He was the first Professor and Head of Cardiology Department of Gandhi Hospital and superintendent of Gandhi Hospital. He set up the department and his tenure was notable for the installation of the first cardiac catheterization lab, the first Echocardiography machine and oversaw the performance of the first cardiac surgery. He was also instrumental in initiating the first DM program at Gandhi Medical college and Hospital. He served as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Osmania Medical College. He also served as the secretary of the Sultan Ul Uloom Education Society and founded MESCO educational institutions. A man fondly remembered by those professionally associated with him, practiced medicine until his last days. He was particularly interested in Vector cardiography.
