Abstract

The very first thought of having a journal for our Telangana State Chapter of CSI dawned on me when I went to deliver a guest lecture at an annual meeting of another state chapter. I had been asked to release the inaugural issue of their journal and I realized that we could have our own journal too. Though my thoughts were greeted with skepticism by a few, I am glad that finally things are shaping up and soon we will be having our very own journal of cardiology.
Well some of you may now ponder as to what purpose a local journal would serve, when there are so many others available. The main reason is to stimulate the reading habit and research amongst us and also revive the scientific zeal hidden within each of us. I am very sure that we all will be able to contribute significantly to the journal.
A journal is the face of a society and more so for a medical society. The cardiologists, especially interventional cardiologists, are so busy with their clinical work that they need to go that extra mile to keep in touch with recent advances. With so much happening in our speciality every day, it is mandatory that we keep ourselves updated.
I can confidently state that Dr Hygriv Rao, with his dynamic demeanor, would do us proud as an editor. I am sure that under his leadership the journal will go a long way. Let us all contribute earnestly and enthusiastically to the journal by submitting articles, case studies, views/reviews, etc. Perhaps with all our efforts we could make it a referral document across the country.
Best wishes to all of us.
