Abstract
With advances in talent assessment methods, a fundamental question of how we assess high-potential talent still remains unaddressed. The article debates the use of traits vs competencies for identifying and measuring high-potential talent, explaining the context when they can be more effective. The purpose of the article is to explain the usage of traits and competencies for talent assessment frameworks, especially high-potential identification and provide practicing managers and HR with much-needed clarity.
