Patient safety is a crucial aspect of public health. Adverse events can occur within and outside clinical settings and affect the health and well-being of the population. Addressing patient safety from a public health perspective is vital. This includes recognizing the relevance of adverse events outside traditional clinical settings and reflecting on prevention and mitigation concepts. Preventing adverse events outside of clinical care is critical to ensuring patient safety in public health. Implementing preventive measures, such as educating the public on safe medication use, promoting safe environments, and managing barriers to access to care, can help reduce the incidence of adverse events and improve care quality.
Effective collaboration among diverse sectors, such as government, healthcare providers, and the community, is a prerequisite for a comprehensive and pragmatic approach to safeguarding public health and safety.
