Abstract
This study focuses on the 2022 Revised Curriculum of Korea by examining basic Chinese vocabulary and selecting high-frequency common Chinese characters that can be used in both Chinese and Classical Chinese education. An activity was designed for Korean middle school students, centering on high-frequency common Chinese characters in the subjects of practical Chinese and classical Chinese. The objective was to enhance learning efficiency in both Chinese and classical Chinese through these common characters and to aid in understanding the cultures of Korea and China, both of which belong to the Chinese character cultural sphere. High-frequency common Chinese characters can be considered effective for both introductory Chinese and classical Chinese education. Prioritizing the learning of these characters based on their frequency can aid in acquiring basic Chinese vocabulary while also supporting the study of classical Chinese. In this regard, emphasizing the teaching of these characters in both Chinese and classical Chinese education is necessary, as it contributes to comprehensive learning in both subjects.
