Several issues about distinguishing the physical object referring terms in bronze inscriptions of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties

Abstract

The determination of physical object referring terms in the bronze inscriptions of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties involves several critical considerations. First, it necessitates addressing the potential ambiguity between the names of individuals and the names of physical objects. Second, it requires resolving potential ambiguities between the names of ethnic groups and physical objects. Third, it involves the challenge of distinguishing between monosyllabic, disyllabic, and polysyllabic physical object referring terms. Finally, there may be disagreements in the analysis of grammatical structure components. This article is dedicated to examining and providing insights into these issues from the four perspectives mentioned above.
