Abstract
The impact of psoriasis goes beyond what can be seen on a skin examination, and there is significant literature revealing the negative effect on quality of life for patients with the disease. The purpose of this review was to investigate the quality of life of psoriatic patients to give a thorough perspective as to the difficulties that the patient population faces. We conducted a PubMed search of relevant articles related to psoriasis and its effect on quality of life. There is significant evidence that identifies the negative effects of psoriasis on the social, financial, physical, and emotional aspects of a patient's life. Combining these negative effects, overall quality of life is impaired predominantly for untreated disease. The quality of life impairment for patients with psoriasis is substantial and results in significant additional burden.
