Abstract
Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a form of inflammatory arthritis which occurs in patients with psoriasis. Recent surveys of psoriasis patients in the United States and Europe suggest that PsA occurs in 11% to 30% of all patients with psoriasis.1,2 The likelihood of development of PsA may in part be due to the severity of psoriasis.1 It is possible that the disease prevalence may be underestimated if it is mistakenly classified as another, more common form of arthritis, such as osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, or if it is present but not clinically evident to the patient.3 The clinical features, pathogenesis and management of PsA have been reviewed in journals, and in Psoriasis Forum.4–10
