Abstract
Dr. R. Pierce Beaver is Professor of Missions at the Divinity School, University of Chicago. A former missionary to China, he was from 1948 to 1955 Director of the Missionary Research Library. In recent years he has made extended trips to Asia. This paper was read at the Symposium on “The Christian Faith Faces Contemporary Nationalism” at the School of International Service of American University, and Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, D. C., November 11 and 12, 1960.
