Abstract
This article explains how a good idea to provide bachelor’s degree completion with great convenience to community college students needed much more planning and discussion among all stakeholders, before final implementation. It discusses the creation of a “network initiative” between a 4-year private, medium-sized urban research university in the northeastern United States and a suburban community college to offer several bachelor’s degree completions. More specifically, the article explains the process to articulate an associate degree in health services administration to the Bachelor of Science degree. While this network had a “false start,” there is hope that involving community colleges in the pipeline to prepare more health services managers is a prudent effort, given the rise in need for almost all health services occupations.
