Abstract
A qualitative research study examines what the use of drama in a seventh grade social studies class means to the students. The students use structured role-play and scripted play to examine social studies through the content of ancient history. The students exhibit problem solving, decision-making, empathizing, linking events, sharing ideas, and conceptualizing. Drama is another powerful method of teaching social studies calling on students to demonstrate knowledge skills, attitudes, and participation.
