Abstract
The students in the Social Studies in the Elementary School course used an online form to submit weekly reflective journals. Four hundred and eighteen journal entries for 52 students were reviewed and rated on a scale of zero to four for the inclusion of technical, social science content, pedagogical, and procedural categories. The majority of the journal entries contained the pedagogical (60.9%) and procedural (58.8%) categories. During the term, the journals focused on topics such as the lesson plans, field experience, and the Internet. The online reflective journal did facilitate reflection of prospective teachers on social studies in the elementary school.
