Abstract
This article asks: What are the connections between the concept of experience and social studies education? A second question is: What and how many experiences, both community and intercultural, have high school students had which can be the basis of the connections? The article concludes that experience is a valid concept upon which to base education, that social studies teachers can be directors of experiences in and related to the classroom, and that students' varied personal experiences can also be resources for classes.
