Abstract
Akbar is a historical figure about whom legend began to accumulate almost in his life-time, and varied forms of it developed as time passed. How Akbar has been seen, whether through hostile or admiring eyes, tells us much about the different ideological trends that have prevailed since Akbar’s time.
