Abstract
The ongoing nursing shortage in the United States continues to challenge the financial stability and quality of care in healthcare institutions. Operating rooms are integral to hospital revenue and disruptions in staffing can significantly impact the institution’s financial health. Many operating rooms report difficulty recruiting qualified candidates due to a lack of exposure during nursing school. Nurse intern programs are a creative way for perioperative administrators to create sustainable staffing pipelines.
