Abstract
This study investigates how Industry 4.0 technologies can transform human resource management (HRM) into a strategic enabler of sustainable development aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The research addresses the question of how integrated digital technologies enhance human resource functions and sustainability outcomes. A qualitative, conceptual approach is adopted, supported by literature synthesis and an illustrative case study of a corporate entity. The findings indicate that technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, Internet of Things, blockchain and digital twins significantly improve talent management, decision-making and employee engagement while supporting sustainability objectives. The study proposes a conceptual framework linking Industry 4.0 technologies with core HRM functions and SDG alignment. This work contributes by offering a holistic, sustainability-oriented perspective on HRM transformation, extending existing literature beyond isolated technological applications and highlighting HRM’s evolving strategic role in the digital era.
