Abstract
Objective:
The microRNA hsa-miR-132-5p is upregulated in endometriotic cyst stromal cells (ECSCs). We investigate how hsa-miR-132-5p affects the progression of endometriosis.
Methods:
Normal endometrial stromal cells (NESCs) that have been isolated from normal eutopic endometrium without endometriosis and ECSCs isolated ovarian endometriotic cysts were assayed. We then evaluated how hsa-miR-132-5p impacted apoptosis, motility, and cell viability in hsa-miR-132-5p-transfected NESCs.
Results:
Transfection with hsa-miR-132-5p promoted cell motility and viability and inhibited the apoptosis of NESCs.
Conclusions:
Our results indicate that the expression of hsa-miR-132-5p promotes the acquisition of endometriosis-specific features during the progression of endometriosis. Thus, hsa-miR-132-5p may have potential value in the treatment of endometriosis.
