Abstract
Biocompatibility evaluation is a fundamental step in developing new biomaterials. Implants derived from bovine tibial compact bone were analyzed with in vitro tests using fibroblast and osteoblast-like cells. Initially, cell attachment and proliferation were quantified. Results indicated that the pins did not interfere with normal cell adhesion and proliferation; moreover, cell morphology was observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and confocal fluorescence microscopy.
