Abstract
This paper researches the structural features of Egyptian shipping. In particular, the growth and development of the Egyptian shipping industry was divided broadly into four periods in terms of ownership and then major structural characteristics was founded respectively. Such a trial has not been carried out so far. The “Gradual Privatization Period”, in particular, from 1990–2000, was treated in detail considering structural aspects such as growth trends of shipping tonnage, composition, age distribution and average ship size of the Egyptian merchant fleet. In doing so, some findings and suggestions are drawn at the end of this paper.
