Abstract

Global Spine Journal (GSJ) is the official journal of AO Spine International, and AO Spine’s official congress is the Global Spine Congress (GSC). GSJ and GSC have long shared a closely aligned and complementary relationship, and we are very excited for GSJ to have a strong presence in Istanbul this year. GSC represents the most important time of year for GSJ’s visibility—it is when the journal is most prominently showcased and when authors, reviewers, and readers will have the opportunity to meet and engage directly with the editorial team.
We are continually working to enhance and strengthen GSJ’s presence at GSC. Following a review of last year’s booth space and discussions with the AO Spine team, we are pleased to announce that GSJ will be returning to the AO Spine booth. GSJ will have a dedicated and clearly defined space within the AO Spine booth, reflecting its unique position as both an integral part of AO Spine and a distinct entity within the organization. Our Managing Editor will be available at the booth to speak with authors, reviewers, and readers, answer questions, and provide support. Attendees are welcome to stop by to pick up printed materials, including flyers, pocket cards, and journal issues. Visitors will also be able to sign up as reviewers and check on the status of submitted manuscripts directly at the booth and copies of focus issue articles will be available to pick up.
We are also excited to announce that GSJ will once again host a live Journal Club session in the theater, following the success of the past 2 years. It will be held on Thursday, May 28th from 4-5 PM in the theater. Look out for more information on the topic and speakers to come on social media and in our eblasts and newsletters. Last year’s session was fully packed with standing room only and featured article presentations by our fellows, along with engaging discussions involving editors, authors, and readers. This is an event not to be missed. The session will also be livestreamed and available for on demand viewing afterward.
In addition, GSJ will present its annual Best Reviewer and Best Paper Awards during the awards ceremony at the end of the day in the main exhibition hall theatre on Thursday, May 28th. This is always a highlight of the congress, as it allows us to recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions of our authors and reviewers in person. Award recipients will be announced shortly, so we encourage everyone to stay tuned to our social media channels for updates.
The GSJ Annual Board Meeting will also take place prior to the start of the Global Spine Congress. This meeting serves as our annual strategic planning session, during which we discuss new ideas, explore innovative academic formats, and develop initiatives to support the continued growth of the journal. It also provides a valuable opportunity for GSJ editors from around the world to meet face to face and collaborate. These discussions are essential to ensure that GSJ continues to evolve and maintain the highest standards of excellence.
We look forward to being in Istanbul and are excited about GSJ’s continued and expanded presence at this important congress. We hope to see you there.
