Abstract

Global Spine Journal has truly had a banner year with wonderful changes and exciting announcements. We are very pleased that we have received an Impact Factor of 3.0- the highest we have ever achieved! GSJ has led the way for multi-disciplinary open access spine journals, and we are seeing more journals copying our format.
In March, we launched both our Editorial Review Board and Reviewer of the Month Award. Reviewer improvement and reviewer incentives have been a long-term goal of GSJ, and we want to make sure we reward our reviewers for their dedicated volunteer time- all winners can be found on our website. We have the annual GSJ Best Reviewer award, but we now award reviewers based on their performances for each month with a social media shout out, eblast recognition and a certificate. This is something that all reviewers are eligible for. We also launched our Editorial Review Board which is a list on the masthead for our reviewers that meet a certain level of criteria.
We also had a successful and strong presence at GSC in Rio. GSJ had its very own booth this year, with focus issues, flyers and pocket cards flying off the shelves. We also had another successful journal club Live From Rio! Presented by our fellows on “Reflecting on 25 Years of Cervical Disc Replacement”.
We are excited to see what next year brings for GSJ, and we know it will be a great one. We would like to thank our authors, reviewers, and readers- without all of you, we would not be where we are today. We hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!
