Abstract
Global Spine Journal is the official journal of AO Spine International and the official congress of AO Spine International is Global Spine Congress. Just like GSJ is a truly international journal, this is a truly international meeting that travels to a different region each year, and this year the GSC will be in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The meeting is anticipated to be a huge success with a record number of participants.
As AO Spine’s journal, GSJ has always had a presence at GSC and this year GSJ will have an even stronger and more prominent presence than it did in the last few years. For the first time ever at GSC, GSJ will have its own separate booth space, apart from the AO Spine booth. While GSJ is a part of AO Spine it is also its own separate entity that deserves to have its own space and unique presence to distinguish it. We are excited to finally be able to have this booth space and to have our Managing Editor there at the booth to talk to authors, reviewers and readers of GSJ. Anyone can stop by the booth to pick up printed materials, and the Managing Editor will be there to answer any questions and concerns as well as sign up new reviewers to the system right there on the spot. The new focus issue that released this year, “Precision Medicine in Spinal Oncology: An Overview from the AO Spine Knowledge Forum Tumor” will also be at the GSJ booth so you can pick up a copy there while supplies last. There will also be other flyers, pocket cards and information available.
After the immense success of the launch of GSJ’s official journal club in tandem with Seattle Science Foundation in GSC Bangkok last year, along with more successful online sessions throughout last year, we are excited to announce that we will have another live journal club session in the theatre area this year as well. Please stay tuned to the newsletters and social media for more information! This was a completely packed event with standing room only last year and featured articles presented by our fellows and great discussions with the editors as well as various authors and readers of GSJ. This is an event you won’t want to miss! It will also be livestreamed as well.
GSJ will also be presenting our annual Best Reviewer and Best Paper Awards at the awards ceremony in the main exhibition hall theatre on Thursday, May 29th at 6p.m. This is always an exciting time, as we love to honor our top authors and reviewers and present them with their certificates in person. Our award winners will be announced shortly, so please stay tuned on social media for those announcements.
The GSJ annual board meeting will also be held before the start of Global Spine Congress. The board meeting is the annual strategy session that continues to allow the GSJ to grow, present new ideas, new academic formats and create new strategic plans. It is also a great time for GSJ’s Editors from all over the world to come together to meet face to face.
