Abstract

Welcome to Global Spine Congress 2022 (GSC). This year, AO Spine’s annual event is heading to one of North America's most vibrant cities, Las Vegas, or simply known as Vegas. Receiving an average of 42 million visitors annually, Las Vegas is considered the brightest spot on earth and home to half of the 20 largest hotels in the world.
The GSC is one of the largest gatherings for thousands of spine surgeons from all over the world. The event provides an outstanding forum to exchange ideas, network with fellow spine professionals, and learn about the latest research, techniques, and technologies in spine surgery.
The Global Spine Congress is unique in its approach to sharing knowledge and developing new approaches to the treatment of spinal disorders to help advance spine care and improve patient care. The congress is open to all surgeons, spine practitioners, allied health care professionals, and researchers, and will offer a full schedule for four days.
The scientific program will include pre-courses, AO Spine Symposia, Society Symposia, and peer-reviewed abstracts, scheduled to be presented as oral or e-poster presentations.
Following the successful format of GSC 2021, GSC 2022 is a hybrid event, featuring an additional range of online presentations, demonstrations and activities alongside the onsite congress. Despite the pandemic, GSC 2021 saw a high number of participants both onsite and online, further indicating that GSC is marked on the agenda of spine surgeons worldwide.
The abstracts that were accepted to be presented at the GSC are published in this special online issue as a supplement to the Global Spine Journal.
