Abstract
The global space economy is rapidly transforming under the New Space paradigm—a shift from government-dominated space programs to a vibrant, commercially driven ecosystem. This article explores the United Kingdom’s (UK) strategic role in this evolution by examining the interplay between regional clusters, academic institutions, technology providers, and cross-sector alliances. Insights from the activities of UK stakeholders underscore how entities collaboratively advance innovation and investment in space technologies. In addition, the study highlights the integration of non-space businesses and traditional aerospace companies into the space sector, driven by emerging needs in satellite operations, Earth observation, and defense applications. Supported by government initiatives and accelerator programs, the UK’s space ecosystem is fostering an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration and technological convergence, paving the way for sustainable and scalable space operations. This analysis demonstrates that the adoption of the New Space paradigm not only creates new strategic opportunities but also strengthens the resilience and global competitiveness of the space economy.
