Abstract
The first article of this two part series describes the application of the PRECEDE-PROCEDE model to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a worksite health promotion program. To achieve program success, this model provides a framework for each phase of planning and emphasizes open communication and feedback from all levels of management and support from both employer and employees.
The evaluation of program effectiveness in the achievement of desired outcomes provides quantitative data to communicate to employers, program planners, and funding sources to make more informed decisions regarding continuing or expanding program funding. The research article which follows describes the process used to study this program's effectiveness in meeting the outcome goals formulated during the PRECEDE phases of the planning process.
