We have been slow to perceive that making a living is much more than economic drudgery—it is a way of life, an emotional and social experience. Obviously, “turning out the goods” is not enough. For, whether we like it or not, our plants and our offices are at the same time turning out a way of life—good, bad, or indifferent. We are involved in the quality of the standard of living as well as its quantity.
