Abstract

A Place for Emergency Responders to Share Their Knowledge and Skills
Well, we are off and running again. This journal is the reincarnation and rejuvenation of the Journal of Police Crisis Negotiations that was founded in 1995. In 2012, the publisher then handling the journal canceled it and it ceased to exist—until now. Thanks to SAGE Publishing Company and to the current name change, the emphasis of the journal now continues with a broader subject spectrum. The Journal of Police Emergency Response is an open-access, peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary publication. We are now accepting online submissions to sageopen.com from all areas of law enforcement and corrections emergencies. Research, case studies, training, related legal issues, prescriptive and descriptive articles, and others on point, are all welcome here and will be given due consideration and peer review. Any paper submitted related to this broad area and that has the possibility of providing useful information to those working in this field is encouraged. The journal will endeavor to be inclusive rather than exclusive in our editorial manuscript selection process. In addition, to this end, an Editorial Board and cadre of reviewers has been expanded to include a greater range of experts and practitioners in this arena. If anyone reading this is interested in being a reviewer for the Journal of Police Emergency Response, they should contact me by email. Include a copy of your vitae. Please provide a list of your professional interests and those areas in which you feel that you have sufficient expertise to provide an effective review.
I welcome as the Associate Editor-in-Chief, Dr. George Klein. Professor Klein is a published author and a law enforcement expert. He has consulted with multiple police agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Also, he was published in the Journal of Police Crisis Negotiations. Dr. Klein has done a yeoman’s job in making possible this new journal rendition. Without him, we would not be ready to move forward today. Thank you Dr. Klein.
In addition, thanks to Thomas Mankowski, Senior Editor, Social Science Journals, SAGE Publications, Inc. Working with me and Dr. Klein had to be a challenge. He met the challenge and moved us along.
