Abstract
An inventory assessing high school students' attitudes toward individuals with mental retardation by Krajewski (1987) was readministered to a group of high school students residing in the same community to determine whether a positive shift in those attitudes had occurred over an 11-year period. Results indicate a positive shift in attitudes with strong indication that inclusion had been a factor. Females decreased their derogatory beliefs while males increased in positive attitudes toward integration issues. Use of a multidimensional scale enabled the researchers to focus on specific areas of change and note more finite and positive shifts in both the total population, as well as examine responses from the two schools that had participated in both 1987 and 1998.
