Abstract
Some commentators are eager to see what AI text production can do for students, while others despair at its perceived inevitability. I argue that Christian educators have strong moral reasons for rejecting the use of AI text production in their classrooms. Writing is not merely a technical skill, but an expression of a set of person-centric values. These values are undercut when student writing is replaced with student endorsement of AI text output. Accordingly, Christian educators should not passively allow the proclaimed inevitability of AI to determine their pedagogy.
