Abstract

Dear Editor,
I would like to thank the authors of the recent publication titled “Effectiveness of Orthotic Devices in the Treatment of Forward Head Posture: A Systematic Review” 1 for their efforts in addressing an important and clinically relevant topic. Their systematic approach to evaluating the role of orthotic devices in postural parameters and spinal alignment offers valuable insight into the treatment of forward head posture (FHP). I am writing to respectfully point out a few issues related to the citation of one of my studies, titled “Posterior neck weighting: An innovative and novel head orthosis for forward head posture correction – A randomized controlled trial”. 2
In Table 1 of the review, under the “Intervention Details” column, the authors noted: “Posterior neck weighting orthosis, 6 h/day”. However, in our study (2. Methods, 2.3.2. Study Design), participants in the experimental group used the posterior cervical weighting orthosis (PCWO) for 10 min, three times daily, totaling 30 min per day, not 6 h. Additionally, in the “Outcomes were measured with the orthosis on, off, or both” column, the table indicates: “Brace on”. Participants were not wearing the PCWO during outcome assessments, including the measurement of craniovertebral angle (CVA) and the administration of the Neck Disability Index (NDI). I truly appreciate the inclusion of our study in the review and commend the authors for their work. I am raising these points to ensure the accuracy and integrity of scientific reporting, especially in systematic reviews that serve as key references for future research and clinical application.
Sincerely,
Hussein Youssef PT, PhD
