Abstract
MyBonum, a startup specializing in referral management systems, aims to revolutionize outpatient rehabilitation therapy in the U.S. healthcare sector. By utilizing an advanced digital platform, MyBonum efficiently connects patients with suitable therapists, addressing prevalent challenges such as inefficient patient–provider matching, high cancellation rates, and limited transparency. The platform offers a seamless and cost-effective approach that enhances clinical outcomes and reduces healthcare costs. This teaching case explores MyBonum’s strategies for navigating complex HIPAA compliance requirements, managing intricate payment models, and scaling operations within a highly regulated and fragmented healthcare environment. Through MyBonum’s experiences, the case highlights innovations in healthcare technology and provides practical insights into developing multi-sided platforms that effectively disrupt traditional healthcare delivery systems.
