Abstract
Shree Sati Import Export (SSIE), a leading sports equipment distributor in Nepal, found itself at a critical juncture, grappling with outdated inventory management processes. Relying on manual demand forecasting, the company faced mounting financial losses due to frequent stockouts and overstock, which stifled its growth and weakened its competitive edge. With the pressures of a fast-changing market, SSIE began exploring a game-changing solution: implementing a cutting-edge Generative AI (GenAI) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) based system. This AI-powered approach promised to revolutionize inventory management by delivering precise demand forecasting, minimizing operational inefficiencies, and even supporting seamless bilingual communication. The case explores how this transformative leap into AI could unlock significant financial and operational benefits for SSIE while examining the challenges and issues related to the design, development, implementation, and change management of such a digital transformation.
