Abstract
The Journal Editors and SAGE Publishing hereby issue an expression of concern for the following article:
“The first case report of primary thyroid teratocarcinosarcoma: An analog to sinonasal teratocarcinosarcoma” by Abayie AO, Nyarko KM, Bährle M, Brütting A. Rare Tumors. January 2021. doi:10.1177/20363613211043662
The journal received concerns that the images and findings in the article were provided for departmental demonstration only and that a contributor was left out of the author byline. We contacted the corresponding author who provided consent forms that indicate the participant had provided consent for publication of this case report. The corresponding author has explained that the author group were the responsible clinical team who undertook the treatment of the participant; radiological and histological images were provided by the relevant departments.The corresponding author acknowledged that the complainant was offered authorship, but the complainant did not approve of the contents of the manuscript, so they were removed from the byline. We contacted the institution regarding clarification on their authorship policy with regards to case reports that include various clinical teams. We did not hear from the institution about this matter. As the Author Contributions of this article are under dispute and cannot be clarified by the institution, the Publisher has placed an expression of concern on this article.
