Abstract

This issue of the European Labour Law Journal contains the written versions of presentations given at two events of the European Centre of Expertise (ECE) in the field of labour law.
The ECE Annual Seminar, which took place on 23 May 2023 in Brussels, focused on recent legal developments in the field of temporary agency work. Miriam Kullmann dealt with the key question of what is meant by ‘temporary’ agency work. Natalie Videbaek Munkholm analysed the possibilities for the social partners to dispose of the principle of equal treatment from a Danish perspective, and Daniel Ulber looked at the issue from a German perspective. Mijke Houwerzijl discussed the working conditions of cross-border temporary agency workers. Nuna Zekić highlighted possibilities for a more effective Directive on temporary agency work.
An expert meeting, which took place as an online seminar on 30 March 2023, dealt with international private law issues. Uglješa Grušić provided an overview of the status of the regulation of individual labour relationships and future perspectives. Aukje A.H. van Hoek examined labour disputes from the perspective of international private law. Laura Carballo Piñeiro explored the question of how to determine the habitual place of work of workers in the transport sector. Michael Wilderspin analysed the relevant case law of the CJEU.
I am indebted to the European Commission for granting us permission to reprint the papers.
