Abstract
The paper argues that the consensus on the typology and the definition of the phenomenon is needed if we want to step up the fight against undeclared work either on national or international level. Bearing in mind the situation in Slovenia the paper points out that the reduction of undeclared work is not predominantly intended to solve the problems of national public finances. Appropriate and balanced measures should in the first place contribute to the realisation of the objectives of the accepted employment strategy. The attention is drawn to the possible trap of the ‘activity based’ definition of undeclared work. The paper briefly addresses the ILO's approach to undeclared work.
