We evaluated the cranial nerves with CISS imaging. Eleven volunteers and five patients were studied with two versions of the CISS sequence and variable imaging parameters. Three neuroradiologists analysed the images including multiplanar reconstructions for the best visibility of the cranial nerves. With optimised imaging parameters it is possible to reliably detect the cisternal portions of the cranial nerves on CISS images.
