We describe a previously unreported complication associated with the use of Guglielmi Detachable Coils and Mechanical Detachable Spirals in the endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms in which part of a coil migrated into the parent artery after completion of the procedure. Four cases are documented and possible aetiological mechanisms are discussed.
