Sono stati esaminati con risonanza magnetica 14 pazienti affetti da encefalite da Herpes Simplex virus tipo 1 (HSV-1), confrontando i reperti ottenuti con quelli riportati in letteratura. Trattasi più propriamente di una meningoencefalite di tipo necrotico, spesso con aspetti emorragici, a sede temporale e/o fronto-basale non obbligata, mono o bilaterale. Suggestivo l'interessamento del giro del cingolo.
