A64-year-old man underwent MR investigation for acute hearing loss. CT scans were also performed to study the petrous bones. T1 and T2 -weighted images disclosed a lucency without enhancement after gadolinium administration, suggesting blood in the left cochlea and vestibule. We could not ascertain the origin of the hearing loss as the patient denied recent inflammation in the oropharynx or otitis probably connected with the acute event. We entertained the possibility of labyrinthine hemorrhage.
