Abstract
We describe the development of stationary and portable humidified oxygen systems for the home care of an infant with bronchopulmonary dysplasia and tracheostomy. The infant's needs for precise, stable FIO2, adequate humidification, minimal mechanical dead space, maximum opportunity for socialization, and mobility were met with a stationary system that utilized a heated humidifier and a portable system that provided a high-flow of oxygen-enriched gas to a heat and moisture exchanger.
