Congenital adenomatoid cystic malformation of the lung is a rare cause of neonatal respiratory distress. The lesion is frequently symptomatic in the neonatal period, although it may remain unrecognized until adolescence. When it is manifested early in life, it must be differentiated from other causes of neonatal respiratory distress and treated promptly. Late presentations occur in the form of recurrent pulmonary infection.
